  1. I really appreciate that they’re using a well established 0° that’s probably an average from the last 1000 years.
    You’ll notice that the global mean starts off around -0.5°. This is because 1850 is right at the end of the [Little Ice Age](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Ice_Age).
