Withings to return after Nokia sell-off

Nokia is to offer its health department back to the creator of Withings, a business it got in 2016.

TheWithings trademark name is set to return following the sale, reversing the Finnish business’s choice to axe it.

The service was established in 2008 and makes linked health gadgets such as watches and weighing scales.

The sale to business creator Eric Carreel for a concealed amount comes after bad revenues for Nokia Health.


In a declaration published on the Nokia site Mr Carreel revealed his objective to restore the Withings brand name, keeping protection for the business’s items.

“I will prepare the return of the Withings brand by the end of the year. I assure you, whether you have been with us for one day or throughout the years, your digital health products and services will continue to be supported,” he composed.

An market specialist discussed the altering fortunes of Nokia’s health department.

“It looked like Nokia had snapped a bargain when they bought Withings but it’s very expensive to build a brand centred on health. With the benefit of hindsight, Nokia’s rebrand may have been a mistake,”Ben Wood, a market expert at CSS Insight, informed the BBC.
